Hi, I have a lab of Dell Precision T3400-machines running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.I am having two issues that I believe are related.First is the card reader does not work. Well it works if I unplug the thing from the MB and plug in back in after windows is booted.
Then it detects it and works fine. As soon as reboot Windows with it left connected, windows gives a warning that the USB (it is a USB device) is not recognized and shows up with the yellow error icons in device manager. I went to Dells site and downloaded the driver for W764 and it does not work. Well it works but goes away as I said.

Why would it actually work then windows error out after a reboot?Second is my USB devices just randomly disappear. This may be related to the first.
I had major issues with any mouse plugged into any USB port. They start off working then just stop working for no reason giving that USB device is not installed properly error. This was really fun when the students were working on documents etcSometimes just moving the mouse to another port worked, at least for awhile. Other times they just stopped working period and no port worked. I had to reboot them.I had to buy a bunch of Microsoft 3000 mice that connect to the PS/2 port to keep the computers working.I also have a scanner attached to one computer that works fine then out of nowhere also just looses the connection.
Same with the USB hub from the monitors that have built in USB ports.I tried disabling and also physically removing that card reader to no effect.Windows is just not stable with the USB ports, front or backIdeas?? Dell’s page for that computer does not have any chipset drivers. The generic ones work fine when they work Why would it just all of a sudden disable the device saying it does not recognize it etc. Out of nowhere? This has been really frustrating I have a T3500 that works just fine so it is related to the Dell model I believe. Is there a way (via registry etc) to simply stop windows from re-scanning certain ports or devices once it is working?
